<p>Circus of the Spineless is a blog carnival that started in 2005 to bring together bloggers who have an interest in animals without backbones. We&#8217;re hosting #69 here at <strong>Wild About Ants</strong> this month, and would love to see a recent post from you. Just send an email with your link to wildaboutants (at) gmail (dot) com and put &#8220;Circus of the Spineless&#8221; in the subject line.</p>
<p>Whether they crawl, swim, squirt or slither, send your posts this way! Edit:  If you could get them to me before Jan. 1, that would be great.</p>
<p>To see past carnivals:</p>
<p>Last month&#8217;s carnival was at <a href="http://davehubbleecology.blogspot.com/2011/12/circus-of-spineless-68-gifts-galore.html?spref=tw" target="_blank">Dave Hubble&#8217;s Ecology Spot</a>.</p>
<p>#55 was here, called <a href="http://blog.wildaboutants.com/2010/09/30/circus-of-the-spineless-55-museum-of-invertebrate-art/" target="_blank">Museum of Invertebrate Art </a></p>

<p>Also wanted to report two items that turned up almost exactly a year ago. Last week I saw the same kind of silverfish that I found in the opening of harvester ant nests again. I looked it up and <a href="http://blog.wildaboutants.com/2010/09/21/more-silverfish-in-ant-nests/" target="_blank">I saw them last year</a> in the first part of September. No better photographs than last year, but it was also in a harvester ant mound.</p>
<p>Two weeks ago I saw another &#8220;meet and greet&#8221; by rover ants. The first time I saw that <a href="http://blog.wildaboutants.com/2010/10/23/brachymyrmex-meet-and-greet/" target="_blank">October 10 last year</a>. I&#8217;d really like to find out more about that behavior.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.wildaboutants.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/rovers-22-meet.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3676" title="rovers-22-meet" src="http://blog.wildaboutants.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/rovers-22-meet.jpg" alt="" width="656" height="386" /></a></p>
<p>Anyone <em></em>out there have any ideas?</p>

<p>On loan from another museum, <a href="http://themuseumofcuriosities.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Museum of Curiosities</a>, Tom Clarke has on exhibit <a href="http://themuseumofcuriosities.blogspot.com/2010/09/symbiosis.html" target="_blank">Symbiosis</a>. He shows a mauve stinger jellyfish (<em>Pelagia noctiluca</em>) and a larval fish that seems to be using the jellyfish as both protection and food. Classic, guns <span style="text-decoration: underline;">and</span> butter from one source.</p>
<p>Are corals that start showing bright neon colors about to bleach? Rick at <a href="http://deepseanews.com/" target="_blank">Deep Sea News</a> addresses the question in his post <a href="http://deepseanews.com/2010/09/color-me-stressed/" target="_blank">Color Me Stressed</a>.</p>

<p>Have you ever seen a trashline orb weaver (<em>Cyclosa turbinata</em>) stabilimentum? John Callender of <a href="http://www.carpwithoutcars.org/" target="_blank">CARP Without Cars</a> has that interesting spider and much more in his post <a href="http://www.carpwithoutcars.org/2010/09/14/coyote-brush-blooming-at-the-bluffs/" target="_blank"> Coyote Brush Blooming at the Bluffs</a>.</p>
<p>For <a href="http://arthropoda.southernfriedscience.com/?p=3317" target="_blank">Some recent arthropod photos</a>, Michael Bok at <a href="http://arthropoda.southernfriedscience.com/" target="_blank">Arthropoda</a> has been using a reverse-mounted 50mm, and getting some awesome macro shots. He has a daddy long legs, ambush bug, dragonfly, wolf spider and young spiders. At another post he has some shots of one of my personal favorites: <a href="http://arthropoda.southernfriedscience.com/?p=3526" target="_blank">Mantis Shrimp, <em>Pseudosquilla ciliata</em></a>.</p>
<p>At<a href="http://indyparks.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> Indy Parks Nature Blog</a>, Janet explores goldenrods and the insects that hide among their blossoms in her post, <a href="http://indyparks.blogspot.com/2010/09/goldenrod-ninjas.html" target="_blank">Goldenrod Ninjas</a>. She pays particular attention to the &#8220;mini-ninjas,&#8221; ambush bugs.</p>
<p>Nothing is better than exploring a tidepool. John (aka <a href="http://www.kindofcurious.com/" target="_blank">Kind of Curious</a>) has shots of starfish, mussels, barnacles and more in his post <a href="http://www.kindofcurious.com/2010/08/tide-pools-at-rialto-beach.html" target="_blank">Tide Pools at Rialto Beach.</a> He also discusses why members of the same species of starfish are different colors.</p>
